Patient Info
Procedure Description:
This lovely woman appeared devastated when she initially consulted with me following several prior rhinoplasties. Complications from her prior surgeries resulted in infection and tissue loss with contraction of her tip that left her nose looking unnatural and deformed. She specifically wished for a tip that was more rounded and projected like her God-given nose had been. This was to be a long process for her.
To soften the tight skin envelope, she performed ‘stretching’ exercises for six months before I reconstructed her nose with cartilage harvested from her chest wall. While improved from my initial operation, there were still some issues that I felt could be improved, so I performed another surgery to refine things and yield a much better looking and balanced nose. The photos show her nose 18 months following her final operation.
Revision rhinoplasty in the face of prior tissue loss is technically challenging and extremely difficult on patients. I was blessed in this case to work with a resilient woman who understood we were a team. While what can be achieved in these cases is limited to some degree, the process and relief that the patients experience makes them very gratifying.
* Each patient is unique and individual results may vary.
